Mr. Nelson is a retired US Air Force member with over twenty years of service. His military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Force Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Force Achievement Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with one Silver and one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Force Outstanding Airman of the Year Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal w/service star, the Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, the Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with four Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with four Oak Leaf Clusters. His military awards include the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Organizational Excellence Award with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Force Senior NCO Intelligence Award for 1989, the Air Force Intelligence Agency's Global Estimator Award in 1989, Air Force Intelligence Agency Senior NCO of the Year for 1989, Pacific Air Force Intelligence Senior NCO of the Year for 1986, and the Pacific Air Force Intelligence NCO of the Year for 1982. Mr. Nelson is very active in his church, serving as a Deacon and directly involved in recurrent Missionary work in Mexico. Nelson, Jr. is a Senior Staff Scientist with Science Application International Corporation (SAIC), the largest employee-owned research and engineering company in the United States, providing information technology, systems integration and eSolutions to commercial and government customers. His work involves designing, testing, and deploying complex technical intelligence systems. Mr. Nelson was recognized by the President's Council on Y2K Conversion for his service during the Millennium Rollover at the National Y2K Information Coordination Center. |
